Printable sinking fund tracker for savings goals
This sinking fund tracker starts with five details about one savings fund: the fund, goal amount, goal end date, start date and date completed. Below that, a ledger logs each deposit & withdrawal.
Sections on the sinking funds template
The top of the sheet holds the goal details you fill in once, when you open a new fund.
- Fund
- Goal amount
- Goal end date
- Start date
- Date completed
The sinking fund section below it covers six items:
- Monthly contributions
- Date
- Starting amount
- Deposit
- Withdrawal
- Balance
How to fill in the sinking fund tracker
Write in the fund and goal amount first. Then add a start date and a goal end date, and divide the goal amount by the months between them to get the figure for monthly contributions. If you've already set some money aside, it goes under starting amount.
Each time you pay into the fund, log the date and the deposit; when you spend from it on the bill it was saved for, log the withdrawal, then update the balance. Once the balance matches the goal amount, write in the date completed.
Who uses a sinking funds tracker
Sinking funds suit costs you can see coming months ahead, such as car insurance renewals, holiday gifts, school trips or a replacement laptop. Print a sheet for each fund in its own color. That keeps the car fund and the gift fund apart in one binder.
